About the event
The Cultural Caravan has presented many successful concerts at The Collective in collaboration with Lafayette Arts & Cultural Resources, and we’re thrilled to return for an intimate and engaging concert and conversation featuring our April artist-in-residence, jazz pianist Victor Mestas, alongside The Collective’s guest curator, artist Adderly Grant-Lord.
Adderly Grant-Lord’s spring exhibition, Black Futures: The Space Between Us, explores the commonalities that exist in the unspoken spaces we create and maintain between one another, interrogating the nature of identity in art. Victor Mestas—renowned in his native Venezuela—has, since moving to the United States, fought an uphill battle to move beyond the label of “Latin artist.” Together, Adderly and Victor will explore the space between them, sharing how identity has shaped their lives and careers in this unique evening of music and conversation.
