Every composer—and every composition—has a story. The Composer Portrait Series—a new initiative created by the Cultural Caravan's Artistic Director, Josh Halpern—brings these stories to life through immersive concerts that explore a composer’s inspirations, worldview, and artistic evolution. Each edition engages a featured composer to design a through-composed program that weaves their own music with the works that shaped them, inviting audiences into a deeper, more personal experience of contemporary music.

The inaugural Portrait spotlights Scott Ordway, a composer whose work dissolves boundaries between music, text, photography, and film. His compositions—described as "exquisite" (The New York Times) and "an American response to Sibelius" (The Boston Globe)—reflect a deep engagement with themes of landscape, memory, and the environment.
